It probably burns oil because all or some of the valves hit the pistons when the chain was put on incorrectly. That would also explain why you are down on power.. losing compression.

i got 267 rwhp with a 224/230 cam, headers, cai, cut-out...on a mustang dyno. i had it on a dynojet..and it was 310 SAE. so if its a mustang dyno..hes only making about 10 more horse then me..and im a cam only. if its a dyno jet..then about 80 horse short.
