Thermostate ?

What is the stock thermo temp on a 94LT1. I have a 160 with the csi water pump after my new motor install, and I don't like it. The motor will never get over 170 and takes awhile to warm up(that is a good thing but...) I think if I can get the motor to stay around 190 I could get alittle more hp. I may put the stock one in if it is around 180.

What do you all think?

Thanks Mark Tisdale

Re: Thermostate ?

If you get the pcm tuned for the new cooler temps you'll development more power. The whole reason of keeping it running cooler is to dial in more timing before it starts knocking/pinging. I am however wondering how a 20* stat change makes my car run 40 to 50* cooler, I haven't yet figured that one out.
