thermostat & cool fan switch
thermostat & cool fan switch
I found a Hypertech thermostat part# 1008 and Hypertech cool fan switch part# 4026. the 3 Hypertech thermostats 160 I have and if the cool fan Switch will fit im going to order it tonight Thanks
Re: thermostat & cool fan switch
Why would you use that switch, rather than simply and correctly reprogram the PCM?
The PCM controls the fans in two stages, both fans low speed at one temperature, and shifts them to high speed if the coolant temperature rises above the low speed temp. It also turns the fans on low speed when the A/C is in use. There is no way that switch can be wired up to replicate the PCM programming. It takes a set of three relays to achieve this control. If those relays are not switched on and off in the correct response to the PCM, you'll get an “SES” light and diagnostic codes that will affect the way the engine runs.
That switch is intended for use on the 3rd Gen TPI engine, because unlike the LT1 they use a switch to control one of the temperatures and the PCM to control the other.

Seriously?
You joined in 2011 and all your posts have been about your “97 Z28 LT1 350”. Most of your 74 posts have been in the “LT1 Based Engine Tech” forum. I have responded to many of your threads, trying to help. I gave you a reference to a reliable LT1 tuner.

weedog
instead of installing some switch to turn on fans, your PCM can be programed to do that with the lower temp, 160, T Stat.
Given your motor was built, I assume not stock, it will require tuning for that build. The tuner recommended by Injuneer would be the one to contact about that and the tuner will need to know what mods were done to the engine, your gear & tire size, etc. Tuners have a form you fill out with this info
Regarding Hypertech, the only thing they make worth buying is a T stat and their fuel pressure gauge. Their hand held tuner is crap.
