Thermostat
No. It shouldn't effect your A/F ratio at all. You will need to have your PCM programmed to switch the fan temp to 160 otherwise you won't get the main benefit of having a 160 stat. You could go to PCMforless.com or madz28.com to get this done or simply get a Hypertech Power Programmer and do it yourself.
no offense:
"You will need to have your PCM programmed to switch the fan temp to 160 otherwise you won't get the main benefit of having a 160 stat. "
this is such a myth....
there is no need for a reprogram, yes you will see the benefits! whenever you are moving your temp will stay nice and low. my gauge shows only a small amount above the 160* mark when i'm driving, even slow.
the only time you'll benefit from a reprogram of the fans is for when you are sitting still, say in traffic or in the staging lanes. and that can be easily cured by using a fan switch.
so don't worry you wont "need" a reprogram, you will benefit just fine from just the thermostat

Well i agree with NorCalStreet, only b/c when i did my Tstat, the car then ran abnormally warm after the install. I also did the bleeding and the Water Weter and still it was running WAY to hot until i programmed my PCM.
Either way, i'd still get the programming or get a SLP fan switch at the least to turn on the fans.

With constant acceleration on highways and open roads there is enough air being pushed through the radiator to maintain the 160 degree temp. However, at slow speeds, stop and go traffic or idling the temperature will continue to rise up until the fans switch on. Stock fan temp is somewhere between 195 or 210 so that is where your temp will remain. A PCM program will be able to switch the fan temp down to 160 degrees so even when you're in stop and go traffic it will still remain at 160 degrees.
