is there a wrong way to do a cam?

I was wondering after the cam and everything else is removed, is there a wrong way to put the new cam in? i meen isnt there only one way that it will fit in, in order to clear the lobes and stuff?? also will engine lube work instead of cam lube?

Yea...make sure you put the end with the distributor gear first....j/k...coat it thouroughly with a good cam lube, and order a new set of lifters. Be careful not to knick the lobes, and install it straight up. Also, you may want to invest in a lock plate like summit part number SUM-G1792. Good luck, and enjoy.
