is there a way to verify an opti is going bad?

is there a way to verify an opti is going bad?

The subject says it all....will the computer throw a code or something like that? Something in my car is super close to making it undrivable. The car has some serious hesitation every time I let the clutch out or hit the gas.

Only if something is wrong with the optical section, will it throw a code. Of course, we know there is more to it than just the optical section.
