This is wrong. All early SS's were done by SLP not the factory.

This is also incorrect. The year of manufacture is controlled by the VIN not the year of actual production. As an example, my 97 is a late 96 production car. It was built is 96 sent to SLP in 96 and releast from SLP on 8/6/96. But is a legal 97 because it is titled, and VIN'ed by the factory as a 97.
There are two very easy ways of verifing this is NOT an SS. One is the lack of the RPO Code WU8, all SS's have this code. The second is to call SLP with the VIN, and ask them.
I never said it would be a real one if a dealer did pull it off They were VIN controlled, but a dealer might have ways around that. Again its a fake SS either way.

my infomation was not incorrect. my point was you would not see a z28 transform into a z28 ss at a dealership. you are reading into my post to much. we all know the early ss's were done in house by slp and later gm took that over. my number is 1053 of the 96 year model. the stickers they added were printed in a special way also , so they couldn't be faked easily. hell i still have the slp factory window sticker lol, for what reason i don't know

X2!

the only thing people most people what them for is the hoosd, spoiler and wheels anyway...
the only way i would want is if it were untouched (no mods), totaly stock and had low miles... i think that it just ruins an ss to mod it... they are more of a car to hang on to and apprieciate... more valuable that way...

my theory: if you plan on modding it then just get a z...
if your looking to collect then get a true ss...

my thoughts exactly...does a 385" stroker, 12-bolt and 6-point cage count as 'modded'?

Seriously wrong.

4th Generation (1993 - Present)

Dealer was yanking your crank, or incredibly stupid.
