Is there a such thing as a 1995 SS?

I'll give ya that one. Alright, just tell him thanks but no thanks it's not an SS, but if you want to sell it at a Z28's price you'll take it, haha... I dunno.

I think it is possible that a dealer would have installed SS equipment (heck look at what berger does). However if that were the case that does NOT mean its worth a penny more than a Z28. That would be just like you and I installing the equipment, it would only be a clone. Definitely not worthy of true SS resale.

At least you did the right think and checked with this board first. I like that when a seller says "trust me"...of course that's what they're going to say.
But no, as stated for the 100th time...SS came back in 96.
But doesn't mean someone couldn't just re-badge the 95, change wheels, change hood and rear spoiler.

There's no way that a dealer could have installed equipment in the year 1995 that didn't exist until 1996.

Basically what it boils down to, is that the guy selling the car is lying, strait to your face. Tell him to eat it and leave.

I remember going to the street races some years ago in the DFW area and ran into 3 different people who claimed their car was a SS with some funked up RS type spoiler and a Suncoast type hood and ghettofabulous wheels. They all looked hideous. What I found astoundingly hilarious is it was just a few weeks after I had ordered mine in February of 1996.

its simple . it should have a radiator support sticker from slp, a door jam sticker from slp, a plaque on the ash tray lid (even though i did trash mine when the ash tray lid broke) a key fob the same as the ash tray plaque.
a dealer would have never installed parts to convert a z28 into a ss. the ss was a factory option, done by factory. my ss was a t-top car with the upgraded suspension and 2OTL muffler and 6 speed tranny. oh yeah ss floor mats also came with the cars and a optional ss car cover. i can't think of any other parts of the top of my head. i've sold my ss hood, air box, replaced my bilsteins (sp?) with hal 12 ways. i think the only thing ss left on my car is the fender symbols, rear ss symbol, and the hurst shifter.

Not to mention, if SLP treated the 96-97 SS's like the 96-97 WS6s, then they would want a VIN # and proof of an accident before they would sell you a hood or spoiler or anything else that was specific to an SS or WS6 those two years. In fact, at that time you couldn't order SS or WS6 specific parts through a regular GM parts dept, you had to go directly to SLP.
They did this to keep clones to a minimum I'm pretty sure.
I know this because a friend of mine bought a 97 WS6 new and hit a deer with it destroying the hood in 1998, and this was the hoops that he had to jump through to get a new hood for the thing.

You can have a 93 SS if you change the emblems, wheels, hood and spolier, but it doesnt mean its a real one.

One of the problems with this type of post is all the misinformation that appears.
This is wrong. All early SS's were done by SLP not the factory.
This is also incorrect. The year of manufacture is controlled by the VIN not the year of actual production. As an example, my 97 is a late 96 production car. It was built is 96 sent to SLP in 96 and releast from SLP on 8/6/96. But is a legal 97 because it is titled, and VIN'ed by the factory as a 97.
There are two very easy ways of verifing this is NOT an SS. One is the lack of the RPO Code WU8, all SS's have this code. The second is to call SLP with the VIN, and ask them.
jasonisdn: a dealer would have never installed parts to convert a z28 into a ss. the ss was a factory option, done by factory.
JoeliusZ28: yes there is, 1996 models would have been availible in fall of 1995. really doesnt matter though, its not a real SS.
