Is there a "low oil" sensor?

My low oil light has been coming, it is full of oil and pressure on the gauge is OK. Is there a seperate sensor for the oil besides the gauge that can go bad? The LT1 has a lot of miles on it and I hope a sensor is bad.
Thanks.
Ron

There is a sensor that plugs into the bottom, driver's side of the oil pan. It just comes unplugged very once in a while. It's probably just unplugged. Happened to me once.
