There isn't any power advantage if that's what you're wondering, the EGR closes completely at WOT.

The biggest advantage, IMO, is cleaning up the engine bay. All those wires and emmisions garbage looks like crap in there. Most people lose the EGR and air pump because they buy headers (like Hooker LTs) that don't have provisions for that junk.

Another thing is less to go wrong. You hear of people all the time who have a stuck valve or a leaking valve or whatever. It eliminates all of these problems. Plus with tuning and stuff it is just one more thing to mess with. Simplicity is the name of the game.
