Is there an alternative to cleaning a K&N filter?

I'm not going to have time to hit Summit Racing tonight before the track and I need to clean my filter, are there any alternatives?

I'm sure anything will be better than it currently is, should I just shake it out and run some water over it? I can hit Summit tomorrow for recharge oil but I have this suspicion that it is nothing more than some common household product.

I had heard that someone did a test and the actual cleaning agent was nothing more than Dawn or something like that?

oooo but it's only $12 or something

the K&N can still function even when really dirty, but obviously not as well as just cleaned/oiled

the new oil is in a spray can, which i think helps not over-oiling compared to the old squeeze bottle

The money isn't an issue, not even remotely close. Just would have liked to have cleaned it while here at work so that it's dry by the time I leave.

No biggie, I'll get the recharge kit and clean it tomorrow. On a tight schedule tonight bleh

Throw it in your washing machine with no soap on delicate cycle. Take out, air dry and re-oil. Works fine for me.
