Testing my Opti ???
You mean Cleburne Oaks Apartments. ;P That dealership is a big euipment dealer now and Pontiac and buick split and built big new dealer ships down the road and then The guy that owned them (Forrest) went bankrupt. Ya it's gotten pretty big I think the last census was above 40,000 people.
That's right... Forrest. Wow... Yeah I lived in those apartments back in the early '90's just after finishing college. I think rent was $200 a month if not less and the cops were always at someones place handling a "domestic disturbance." Mullets were a plenty around there.

ok well I got my battery fully charged then did the test on the connector when I crank it and it is showing right at 2v AC on the Voltmeter. So does that mean that the opti is ok since it is showing the pulses from it?
I may be wrong, but I think that the test more confirms that an opti is bad rather than proves that it is good.
Hey guys, I think my opti is bad. I had my ICM tested at O'rielly's, and it checks fine. I bought a new coil, even though the old one checks fine. But I'm not getting a spark from the coil to the opti. I'm checking this, by putting a timing light on the coil wire.
I've got twelve volts going to the ICM, I've got the signal(3V) coming from the PCM.
But my timing light doesn't show that a spark is being generated.
I'm thinking my Opti must be grounded, but if that's the case, shouldn't I be able to read continuity to ground between the coil wire(still hooked up to the Opti) and ground?

Did you check the wires to the coil, too?
BTW, it's not really a good idea to tag onto a year old thread with a new problem. People start reading through the old stuff, not realizing that it is actually old.

Sorry.
But yes, I've got 12 volts going to the coil, and a pulsing signal coming from the ICM.
