Testing my Opti ???

Ok, I was reading on Shbox's website on how to test the opti. Do I need to take the opti harness apart where it is mounted there on the passenger side manifold and test the B connector on the side that is going into the opti to test the opti signal? It's not really clear on that part. I was thinking if I took it apart then it wouldn't have power going to it so it doesn't seem that i would be able to read power coming out of it. Does that make since?

The only thing you disconnect is the connector to the ICM, not the opti. Those are the terminals you will be testing, they are labeled. Use the bolt to the right of the coil as the ground. Follow the directions carefully, Good luck.

Well I tested it and neither A or D have power with the ignition on. I found that the ignition fuse was blown there in the underhood fuse box. So I replaced it and it didn't help anything, still no power to either terminal. I was so happy when I found it to, I figured it would fire right up but No!

ok scratch that, I have power to A and D but the AC voltage when I crank it on Terminal B is only .8 to 1.0 volt.

If your test was done correctly, then you either need a new opti or new opti wire harness. If that is the case, get an AC Delco opti.

Well I Pulled the harness out of the opti and at the plug connector by the manifold on terminal B it's running 5.02 and then after I plug it in, on the opti end it's running .02 so I am leaning towards a new harness. I will change the wire out in the connector and see how it reads and see if it fires then if thats the prob I will order a new one.

Well I guess it is the opti, The harness is good. I just didn't figure it was cause it ran fine no missing or anything, then I went to crank it and the battery was dead then I charged it and now no spark. ****ty. Oh well this will be number 3 in the last two years

I bought the first one from Eagle Auto Parts then the second one at autozone I believe. I should have just switched to the coil packs.

You mean Cleburne Oaks Apartments. ;P That dealership is a big euipment dealer now and Pontiac and buick split and built big new dealer ships down the road and then The guy that owned them (Forrest) went bankrupt. Ya it's gotten pretty big I think the last census was above 40,000 people.
