temp sensor extentions
temp sensor extentions
My new turbo manifolds and done. cut, welded, coated and bolted in.Problem now is i can't get my temp sensors in the heads because the flange is in the way. i just tried filing down the hex head of a new temp sensor and ended up destroying it, apparently there's not a lot there. I know i could take the manifolds off and grind out enough room for the sensors but that is a major PITA and i don't want to mess up the fresh ceramic coating. so i was wondering if there would be any adverse affects to threading a coupler into the head that would alow the temp sensor to thread in away from the manifold.would if affect the reading very much? think the coolant would flow past it well enough? I have AFR 210 heads with on a 355ci LT1 in a 97 camaro with FAST. I am rying to run a temp sensor in each head one, one for the FAST and one for the gauge. I can't run the ECM sensor in the water pup because the turbo is too close.
Re: temp sensor extentions
I added a brass tee to the line from the back of the heads and installed a coolant temp sensor in it. Your 97 has a different routing on that line, but its still a possibility. I wouldn't use any sort of a fitting that moves the sensor away from the head.
