Temp gauge is not working
I think I may have lost my temp sensor, is this installed in the drivers side head?
Thanks
Thanks

Yes. Does your gauge not go up? If so, ground the lead to the sensor and turn the key ON. Your needle should read full hot. This would mean your gauge and wiring is ok and you need a new sensor.
If the gauge is already reading full hot or stuck somewhere in between, your sensor lead may be pinched and grounded out.

I broke the wire at the blue connector. Is there a way to take the black piece off of the top of the connector so that I can re-attach the wire?
Well, doesn't look like this can be fixed. There appears to be no way for the wire/connector to be taken out of the clip so is this available from the dealer or is there another way to repair this?

i broke mine when i put the headers in last week. You can get the sensor from napa or autozone..just make sure they give you the one for the block and not the water pump. Also dont forget when you unscrew it from the block you're going to lose coolant so have the new one close at hand so dont lose that much
Unfortunately my sensor is fine, it's the actual wire that snapped in two.
I need the harness now I think.
If I add an aftermarket gauge will that fix the problem? I'm going to contact Dal regarding the harness but if it's more than an aftermarket autometer then i'll just by a new gauge.

You might be able to fix it with the right tool to remove the pin from the connector and then re-attach the wire.
Otherwise
AC-Delco p/n PT728 or
GM p/n 12126458
is what you need to replace the connector.
You could also snag a connector at a boneyard and splice that on.

I have the blue connector in hand but the problem now is getting the actual wire (what's left of it) and the metal piece inside out. I contacted Dal and he said that I can try putting something in there to push it out?
That's where i'm stuck right now is getting the actual metal connector out of the blue plug. Once that's out I can re solder the end of the wire that's hanging on my car and be good to go. They don't make this easy that's for sure, and I do not like riding around not knowing where my temp gauge is. Luckily I have the manual fan switch so I just keep them on high.

1] Take the 'cover' [blue?]off the wire entry end of the connector[black?]by prying the ends with a small screwdriver..
2] Get a sewing needle[medium size not TOO small]
3] insert the needle about 1/4" into the female end of the black? connector[there's a SMALL 'notch[rectangular] on the side that the needle will have to go into]
4] gently pull the wire out of the back end[where it goes into][ of the connector..
5] once it's out, you can readily see the metal tab that 'locks' it into the connector, which you will probably have bent FLAT, and need to rebend it out slightly to 'relock' it back into the connector
I have 3-4 pics I just took if you want I can email them to you..
I did the ABS connector[for ease of access] but the temp gage connector is the same style plug, just has one wire inetead of two..
Let me know post here, or PM me if you need the pics..

Glad you got it.. not that hard when you figure out the 'trick' to it..
I prefer to replace connectors rather than cut wires, etc. and pigtail them, as that defeats the purpose of 'weatherpac/weatherproof' etc..

I have the correct connector on order thanks to Shoebox for the PN. Dal was out of stock on them and I can't drive without having the temp gauge, that bothers me too much. This quick fix will do until the connector arrives.
