the teeth on the gears broke on my car, what needs changing???

hi guys k, my rear busted. the teeth on the ring sheared off (most of them at least). the diff itself is alright. now, i took the car to a gm dealer to find what the problem was and how much to $$$ to fix. the price they gave me is 1400$ CDN (about 1100$ US). i have the list with all the stuff, new bearings (axle bearings), and a bucnh of other stuff. (its written in french, and i dont know how to translate them). anyway, sound decent?? or im i getting it up the rear nice?? i figure, if its only the gears themselves that are f**ked, i only need to change those. or because of all the crap flying around in there it screwed the rest up?? whats your opinion on this guys?? thank you very much

For once there's something on here I am absolutely qualified to answer. Not that I know a hill of beans about the rear end, but I can tell you what your work order says in French :-). I work as a translator and speak French. I lived and worked in France.

If you want to know what it says, let me know.

I would think of taking that money, saving, and changing the rear to a 12 bolt.
