Tearing down the top end
Tearing down the top end
So. I got the intake all unbolted but it seems to be caught up. I know it's that damn hose on the back but I can't seem to get it off. Also when I pull the heads. Do I have to pull the rockers? Or just the bolts in b/t them and then along the bottom of the head? How do you take the fuel rail completely off? It's off to the side but not out of the engine bay. This is my first time and I was moving along pretty good but can't get that intake out. Any help would be apprecieated. Thanks, Jarred
You don't have to remove the rockers, but it's a good idea to do so. It makes it easier to get to all the head bolts, and you really should remove the pushrods so you don't bend them when you remove the heads. To completely remove the fuel rails, you will need a fuel line disconnect tool. Which hose are you saying the intake manifold is caught on?
After you get the EGR hose off, the intake will still be stuck on there good from the RTV. Here's a tip: if you haven't already, take the throttle body off (be careful not to rip the gasket), then screw in the 2 upper TB bolts halfway. Stick a crowbar between them and slowly pull up. This will help break the seal without damaging your intake.
I had already broke the intake lose. I just put my hand in the intake and pulled my *** off. Those bolts weren't hard and intake came right off. Thanks for the help. I knew that those were there just couldn't seem to get a socket on them but I got it.
