TB bypass (question)

I was thinking of doing it but I'm not sure. First I can see where this would be effective on cold starts but after the engine warms would'nt it but worse. Here is my though after the engine warms to normal temp would'nt the TB area soak excess heat from the engine bay and actually be hotter without the engine coolant to maintain the temp What do you guys think?

It might soak up some heat, but I doubt it'll be 220 degrees. If you think about it, you can pretty much always touch your throttle body without burning your hand.

Even though it is called engine "coolant" it is still pretty damn hot!

It will be cooler without the "coolant" going through it

As far i know you don't GAIN any power from it it keeps you from LOSSING power.

TB BYPASS

There was someone on here that did a before and after and they gained(kept from lossing) a net or around 5 RWHP. Results will also very depending on temp ect. And from what some people have said is that before they couldnt touch their tb all the time and now they can.

I just figured heat from the headers ect. would just heat the TB up hotter than the coolant but I guess it don't. And I read the part where some people can't touch it thats mine after dirving awhile you can't hold your hand on it for more than a few seconds without it burning a bit. So can someone direct me to the steps to do it? I'm going to log some intake temps under various conditions and the do it and compare to see for myself. Thanks guys

Thanks shoebox I knew I saw it somewhere but could'nt remember where. Is it ok to leave the hookups on the TB open till I can buy something to cover it? Its just a cavity from one side to the other right?

Yes. The only reason to close it is if you don't want stuff getting up in there. Won't hurt anything if its just open for a little while

the factory set up runs hot coolant from the engine to the TB. not from the radiator.

its definatly cooler with out the coolant.

dont think so much about proven mods. just trust us.

I've never closed mine off in the year since I did it and haven't had any problems.

I also didn't plug one of the old coolant passage.. I couldn't get the plug in there.. so I just forgot about it. No problems here.. but is it that bad?
