What are LPE shorties? Does Lingenfelter fab and sell their own type of shorty header? Do you mean Edelbrock shorties?

They were stainless 1 5/8" shorties sold and installed by them with the 383 package in 1995. I have no idea who made them for LPE of if they were fabbed by them. I have never seen another set of shorties like them and they were a nightmare for plug access and wire clearance....Even on the even side things were very tight when routing underneath...Wire changes were a mess, etc...I understand that you don't like the OVC set up...It worked very well for these headers and I kept the set up with my Kooks...I also think that the wires are subjected to less heat with the OVC routing than the other way...No doubt that the stock/under valve cover looks cleaner, but I'm very happy with how the OVC is working for me...

Got it... I must be lucky. I've had stock and 8mm wires routed in the stock location driving daily in the Texas heat and never had one burn w/ the Edelbrock shorties and the LT's. I've only ever bought two sets of plug wires for my car in the 10 years I've owned it.
