Taylor OTVC..

i was wondering if the guys that are using the OTVC wire set-up like it and think it's worth it....I'm asking because I recently had to change my plugs (agian) had a very bad miss and the whole passagner side were fouled out, and im not really impressed with the way they are ran from stock to begin with and now i have a wore arcing out and can't find it, and thought about forking over the lil extra cash to run the OTVC set-up...just would like to get everyones opinions on this

Im running them and have had no issues for almost 2 years. I will say it was a pain in the *** to get them put together. Getting the boots for the opti over the wires was a nightmare.

just something else to move out of the way when taking the valve covers off. and a large PITA if adjusting valves w/ the engine running. i'd much rather spend the time to correctly route the wires than to have to mess with them from above.

Re: Taylor OTVC..

i have them, but i guess i ordered the wrong looms. they wouldnt fit so i just ran the wires through the accessory brackets and over the valve covers loosely. i have no problems either.

Re: Taylor OTVC..

I installed them about 4 months ago with no problems. Just cause I got mad about burning wires so I put the Taylor 2000* boot protectors on the wires up by the headers.

I made my taylor's three years ago now and I still remember how much my hands and thumbs hurt the next day from trying to get the wires through the boots. No amount of lubricant was helping me get the freaking boots on the wires.

I don't think they're too bad. They sit away from the motor while adjusting the valves, and I can have the valve cover (driver's side) off in less than 5 min. I'm happy with mine.

Re: Taylor OTVC..

i just installed mine. Don't pay any attention to the instructions. They tell you to first pull the wire threw the boot before u crimp it then crimp in the connector then but it back into place. that too much of a pain. those boots are tight even if you lube'em up. just cut the wire to fit them crimp on the connector and push it threw. the connector will end up being smaller then the wire so you shouldn't have any problems. they took me about 5 min each after i figured this out. Also if u still have emissions fitting on your exauset set up u'll have to flip up the last loom on the drivers side valve cover and the last two of the passenger side. I actually almost didn't have enough wire because of the extra distance required to route them around the emissions fittings. Other than that i really like them so far they look good and its easy for me to check my wires to see if their burnt

It helped to heat up the boots with a hair dryer, then some spray silicone. Slid on pretty easily for me that way.

Re: Taylor OTVC..

I've got 2 years on mine with no problems at all...You just have to take your time, measure twice, cut once and use lots of spray silicone on the ends/boots...Valve adjustments are no problem at all as the wires move out of the way with the covers off...You have to take the 4 valve cover bolts off anyway and the looms go with them...After burning the #5 wire for years this was a welcomed mod...

Shhhhhh... I'll tell you a little secret. You actually use a #6 or #8 plug wire to route to #5 by running it all the way down the sheath on the side of the block, then loop it back towards the #5 plug and bing badda boom... the boot is then turned away from the primary and all is well with the world.
Besides that I think OTV wires are ugly.

That didn't work with the LPE shorties I had then. Believe me, I tried everything I could think of..I ended up running a long wire over the top and down and it worked, but looked stupid with only one wire OVC..Your little secret would've worked with the new Kooks stepped LTs I have now...
