Re: Taller Valvecovers???

i made mine fit with a little grind on alternator. I don't think it can work with all of tall valve covers anyway.

There is also a post on someone selling a part to rise alternator

Re: Taller Valvecovers???

Just mark and grind the back of the alternator... Works wonders and is WAY cheaper than the alternative of the alternator relocation bracket. Good Luck!

You should try searching, or looking on the first page. There are two different threads about this on the first page of LT1 tech.

You can grind the alternator, or install a ~$30 alternator lift bracket to get the alternator out of the way.

Where would one get the lift bracket?

Here's a link to the ad:

http://www.jdrcustom.com/Zoops-8175-8176.html

The person who originally found these had mentioned something to the effect that they're supposed to be adjustable, but this ad shows that they're set at a fixed 1 1/4" height. They're also designed to work specifically with Zoops' LS1 brackets; I'm sure if somebody was handy with a grinder it wouldn't take much if anything to get them to fit a stock LT1 accessory bracket though. However, the thing that concerns me is hood clearance...

Thanks for the link.
That DOES set it up pretty tall and I think clearance might be an issue.

you may only need a 1/4" adjust. Zoops sells them for this purpose
clearance is not a problem with the hood.
Two things:

1. I don't see anywhere in that guy's posts where he says he has one of these brackets.

2. Did you actually click on the link and READ the ad for this bracket? The bracket increases the height by a fixed 1 1/4" difference. Nowhere does it mention that it's adjustable.

I understand that the original poster was trying to help but even still we need to be discerning and figure stuff out for ourselves instead of blindly believing every tidbit of info that we read about here.

Now that you point that out, it does look like a fixed riser. I wonder if this guy really knows what he's talking about.

Re: Taller Valvecovers???

We need pics of this thing installed! Also with a riser like that wouldn't one need a longer serpentine belt?
