could I paint the valvecover with a regular car paint?

I just got my car painted and ask the guy to let me have some extra paint.

Now, My guess is that there should be a difference between the paint that says: ENGINE PAINT - RESIST HEAT TO 500 *F, and the paint that they guy gave me.

If I use a a heat resistant prime, and then pain my valvecovers with my car factory paint, and clear coat.... should it be fine?

what is the worst thing that could happen?

Fire?

thanks

the color will just fade/turn other colors. It should be fine though. I painted my brake calipers with regular paint and they have held up fine.

I used rustoleum on my brake calipers and they have been fine holding up the high temps...

I took my valve covers and intake to a local powder coating shop they charged me around $90 to sand blast and coat mine. They look great and the color has never changed.

I used the exact same paint that my vehicle was painted with on the block and heads. Has held up fine with no problems whatsoever. Even around the headers. No discoloration, nothing. If it is good paint, it will be ok. I did use Zinc rich primer. I didn't clear coat mine either, I think that would cause you more problems (bubbling, melting, etc.)

thanks everyone!
I'll wait until it gets a little warm and I'll paint them.
