Arrow Tall Valve Covers

Anyone using "Tall" valve covers? What did you have to do to make them fit?

I'm not sure... assuming longer bolts and the alternator being mounted elsewhere.

That's what I was wondering about the Altenator...If it would be ok to cut and weld the valve cover to fit it.

You would need to bring it to a local machine shop or such unless you are comfortable working with alum yourself...

Yeah that's fine if you can TIG aluminum.... I think you can also deform the valve cover slightly to clear the alt. I'm just going to move my alt to a different place, probably near where my air pump used to be and use a custom pulley setup.

Cool

do a search here for valve covers.

i went with the proform tall polished aluminum center bolts and grinded the rear of the alternator until it fit.

I did it when I saw it could be done in pics posted in a vc thread.

I have seen a few different kinds of valve covers that come notched on ebay and other places. I don't know how tall they are but they should be fine to clear most roller rockers. I had someone who is very good at welding notch my valve covers on a mill and weld them up. They came out great.

Yea that's waht I plan to do, just shave the piece of alternator off. I made a thread about it, do a search for "dynamat valve covers" in the titled in LT1 tech and you should see my thread. In it, SVT Killer LV shows details pictures on the area to shave off before during and after it's done. He also shows a could pics of the clearance between his aftermarket valve covers and the alternator.

I'd like to get an actual height mesurement of those valve covers because from just looking at the pics they look like aftermarket covers but not really "Tall" covers.

When you said "Tall" I think of something like these-

That are like 5" high in the center, in which case you'd have to grind like 1/4 of the alternator off
