Arrow Taking Heads off. Need Help Please.

I am in the process of taking off my heads & installing GTP Stage 2 heads. I am trying to get the bolt out of the back of the Drivers side head that holds the line that connects to the 2 heads in the back of them. Any tips for me? I have a 15mm wrench on it but cant seem to get the leverage without slipping off the bolt. I am done tonight & made good progress so tomorrow is another day. Also any other things I may run into that you guys know off hand & care to share feel free. I thought this was going to be a piece of cake but there is just not enough room to make this job any easier.

Also I have yet to start removing the power steering pump off the passenger head. Any tips there would be great too. Thanks

Eddie

what i did man, is cut that stupid line in half and just bought a new one from jason cromer for 25 bucks. WELL WORTH IT!!! then i just put the heads on and put it on them with the heads on the car. VERY easy this way!!! I had the same problem as you, got pissed at it, and just cut it in half.

Power steering is just 2 10mm bolts which are easily accessed through the pulley. the accessory bracket has 2 14mm bolts that go through the head. you have to remove these, one is easy to get with an extension, the other is behind the ps pump and i couldnt get to it with a socket or wrench. so i cut a chunk out of the bracket to allow a wrench on it.

Yep, cut it or take the heads off both at the same time (with a friend helping of course). If you cut it and are careful (get a tube cutter back there somehow) you could just rejoin it with some rubber tubing. It is just coolant that flows through there so I dont see why that would be a problem.

When I did mine I had a friend help, took both off at the same time. When I went to reinstall I did the same, put the tube on and had a friend help lower both heads at same time. Worked out well.

Thing with those bolts is that they are narrow and strip easily. In my case it would have been impossible to remove them on car (as it was it took vicegrips and some additional leverage off the car).

Good luck.

Plan A: If both sides are still bolted in, you can get a friend to remove both heads with the steam lines still bolted to the heads.

Plan B: If you can just get one side unbolted, then there is no need to unbolt the other side until it is off the car and you have space to work with.
