Take out LM resonator?

I'm running a Loudmouth cat-back system right now and its just starting to be to loud. How would it sound if I took out the resonator, put a piece of 3" pipe in its place then just after the axle, where the muffler would normally be, just have a single in/out spin tech or something else that is alot quieter? Any opinions would be very helpful.

Want something better? get a Dynomax race bullet 12" its the same lenght and diameter. Its a resonator, pass thru design. It tones it down a bit and rids you of the 2000rpm drone and popping .
mine was $100 installed

Ya I read about the Dynomouth but I'm looking for something even quieter.

The 18" and 12" Bullet isn't going to vary too much in sound.

Put in a Borla XR1(?) in place of the resonator.

That wouldn't be louder?

I'm trying to quiet it without buying a whole new cat-back.

I was under the impression that the Borla gave it more of a tone and also made it not as loud.

I thought so too, even though I am not a Borla fan...

Would that be called a BorlaMouth setup?

This might be obvious, but just so you know, taking out the resonator and putting in a muffler after the axle would make it just like any other cat-back. So if you're looking to do this, just get the muffler of your favorite sounding cat-back, it will be VERY comparable.

Hope this helps.

That's what I was thinking also.

Just get a Hooker aerochamber muffler back there.

Re: Take out LM resonator?

thought id bring this back to ask a quick question before starting a new thread, is there room back there for a muffler behind the axle, or does the pip from the loudmouth get really close to the rear, close enough to where it wouldnt allow the width of the muffler?
