Tach and engine stops then driving
Today I had a strange thing happen. I was driving my Camaro 1997 Z28. Engine started as always but after driving 10 minutes or so after I had made a turn the engine stopped two times like it was out of gas (I have half gas tank) and the tachometer dropped to zero. I was drivin in around 55 mph. After just a few seconds the engine started again and runs fine but the tach was dead, made a few jumps then shifting (manual six speed) and after a minute or so tatch started to work again. The car run like it should all the way after these two mysterius short stops. No other electrical issues during this two stops. I'm not at my home so I don't have any obd tool to check for fault codes.
Re: Tach and engine stops then driving
Unfortunately, it might have been an intermittent failure of the cam position sensor low resolution pulse signal from the Opti. Did the SES light come on? The only way to check for it would be to scan the PCM. Code would still be stored.
