2. Remove the torque arm...1-15mm headed bolt on the side of the tranny.
3. Remover shifter..you may have to remove the console to get to everything.
4. Unplug the VSS, the reverse lockout and the ship shift solenoid.
5. Unbolt the slave cylinder and secure to the side of the rranny tunnel.
6. Support the tranny and remove the crossmember.
7. Unbolt tranny from bell housing. Pull tranny back. It is heavy and it will fall on you if you do something stupid.
8. Remove release bearing arm from release (throw out ) bearing. It's on a pivot and has a flat spring retainer.
Do not just replace the throw out bearing. Replace the entire clutch assembly and the pilot bearing. Everything in there is the same age..if one thing fails everything else is primed and ready.
Do yourself a favor and by a Haynes or chiltons manual..
Re: t56 tranny removal
I strongly suggest that you obtain a repair manual for your car before attempting to wing it. It will give you the step-by-step procedure for both removal and installation, as well as the safety precautions.
You'll also need ramps and/or jackstands (I prefer ramps under all 4 wheels), and at least 1 good floor jack. A second pair of hands is also a big help.
Good luck, and be careful.
