T/A Cover/Matnet Question??

I had this posted in the drivetrain section for a few days with no repley, sorry for posting it here just looking for an anwser. I am swapping rear ends and putting my T/A cover on the new rear. Question that i have is, what to do with the Magnet that comes on the stock cover?? Do i just glue it to the T/A cover?? I left it out on the old rear, which i probley shouldn't have done. What are you guys doing with the magnet?
Thanks Brad

Re: T/A Cover/Matnet Question??

When I switched covers I never used the magnet. I change my fluid every year and haven't had any failures or seen any metal in the fluid, but you could find a magnetic drain plug and use it instead. Some auto parts and hardware stores should have a magnetized plug.

Thats not a bad idea. It really might not be needed, but just make good peace of mind.

Re: T/A Cover/Magnet Question??

I'd use some good adhesive, and put it in the T/A cover. In this instance, there is a reason for gm's madness. In my case, I machined a spot flat, to locate securely, the mag in cover.
