I was driving home tonite and was accelerating in 4th gear when the shifter popped into neutral. I put the clutch in and threw it back into gear, cept the engine just reved. I pulled over and tried putting it in 1st and moving but it acted like 5% of the clutch was grabbing. Then (and now) it won't move at all. I can put the car in any gear without pushing the clutch. Really weird.
The clutch is a SPEC stage 2, and theres only like 7000 miles on it maybe.
I did it like 2 years ago and I barely drive the car. Any ideas? I was initially thinking something happened to the clutch, but why would it pop itself outta gear? Everything seemed normal, the tranny sometimes gets a little sticky sometimes if a make a real hard WOT run to like 80mph or so, and after I slow down from doing like 120+mph. It also makes its share of noises, but its always done that, although i've only put like 10k miles on it in 3 years. Its fine after like 1 minute. And its always had Mobil 1 ATF in it since i've had it, and I just put new fluid in like 1 month ago.

 

Given that it's a Spec clutch, I wouldn't doubt that it had some kind of failure. They're kind of notorious for it.

 

I had an older perlude do that. The shift linkage on the tranny fell off, maybe the same prob, maybe not?

 

Yea i have heard of some failures with the SPEC, its a great clutch otherwise. I'm wondering if the throw-out bearing came away or something.
