ive heard both engines talked about being swapped into an lt1 f-body. which would be better? cost? mod for mod? which is easier? with a new matching transmission.
just curious

Neither, save all that money you'd spend on fabbing brackets and such and just build up the LT1. You'll get the same power levels out of the LT1 as easy as a modded LS1 or LC2.

Everyone is going to tell you to not waist your money on the LS1 motor and put that money into your LT1. With that kind of money into your LT1 it will be an animal..

EDIT: See as I was typing this someone beet me. ooooh gran national.. duh

I'd go with the GN motor.

If money was no object.....then the LC2 would also get my vote as long as it's was pushing at least 25lbs of boost

there was a previous post of how someone could buy a motor mount for the lc2 for under 300 bucks. would there be anything else needed to make it fit? would it really be that expensive? i mean, it is a smaller engine.

It would go in a little easier than a LS1 but still having to fab up headers/exhaust and also the trans would be a problem but you might get the Yank 4L70 to work with it since it's a built 200.

I've been looking into swapping a 2JZ-GTE motor into one of my cars. a few of my friends have that motor and they are pretty bad *** engines.

I think it'd be nuts to do either. If you want more than you can get out of an LT1, get a nice Bowtie or aftermarket Gen I block and go crazy. Or, if you have really deep pockets than think big as in big block.

Both have more power potential/cost than either an LS1 or a GN swap.

i couldnt see replacing my v8 with a v6, turbocharged or not. Bump the compression down on the lt1, then turbo it.

It would also cost A LOT to put in a GN.
