Suspension Issues?
My car was wrecked pretty bad back in august but its back togeather now. Ever since the wreck it seems like the streering just hasnt been as tight as it used to be, and now it seems like you can feel every bump in the road in my steering wheel, or the most minor bump makes the steering wheel turn left or right, what do you guys think is going on here? Also even after new brakes and having the rotors turned it the steering wheel still has a tendcy to turn left/right when braking. I am thinking shocks/struts or both? Any ideas? If so any recomendation on brands? I want as smooth as ride as possible without loosing to much controll.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Was the front suspension damaged in the wreck? What got replaced?
If the frame (unibody) in the front was damaged or some steering or suspension pieces got bent it would seriously affect your handling like you described.
I had a 77 Fiat Spyder conv. and it had the front nearly ripped off once. It never handled well after that. I ended up selling it 'cause I couldn't stand to drive the car any more.

I dont know which parts of the suspension were damaged, I hydroplaned, ran straight over a curb and down a cliff into a creek. I do know the frame was damaged and the car spent a lot of time on the unibody machine. Its really starting to bother me know, sometimes the car will just drift almost into another lane, and it "over reacts" to any pot hole or bump in the road. Keep the suggestions coming guys I really do appreciate the help.
One other side question , i have a loud sound coming from my exhaust at about 2500 rpms in every gear, the best way i can descibe it is the sound you get when you blow across an empty glass bottle multiplied by about 20x. The exhaust shops can never find a leak, any ideas what this could be? Possibly the cat converter breaking up??
Thanks again!!!

My guess is that either the A-arms are bent or the K-member.. giving you a negative TOE in, That negative TOE in makes the car handle like you describe.. That is what is happening to me and its due to bad bushings that are going to be replaced
