Summit TB?

I just installed one last night, havent cranked it yet since im not quite done with my h/c swap, and was wondering if anybody has run one yet? the main reason I ask is because I was rather pissed that the holes for the tps sensor were not the right size. I had to tap them out so the stock bolts would fit. I know they come with seven bolts for the plate underneath and four to actually mount the tb to the intake (these bolts were too long and i had to reuse the stock top bolts) but none for the tps. It wasnt a big deal as it was easily resolved just curious if anyone else has had this problem with the summit unit.

Is that TB "made in the USA", or is it possibly a Chinese copy of someone elses design? Just curious.

I seriously doubt its made in the usa since i cant find anything stating where it was made. the box is generic with a printed part no. label and there is no info on the assembly instructions. I was saving for the as&m but bought the summit on a bit of impulse since i was ordering arp head bolts. Now wish i had waited especially with the as&m tb on sale.

Fire it up and tell us what you think.
I've been looking at one of these for a while...I just didn't want to be the guinea pig.

I was considering buying one of these myself, but haven't heard of any feedback yet. In your case where you had to retap the bolt holes makes me worry, especially since these throttle bodies are supposedly designed especially for the LT1 motor and not a variety of different applications.

Did you try using smaller bolts?

I may be wrong here but I believe that the Summit TB's are actually made by Professional Products. I've caught wind of talk of that a couple of times now.

I did not have any handy. The tap was simply easier than a trip to the hardware store. If they designed it to require smaller bolts they should provide them anyway. They provide bolts for everything else that connects to the tb.

Yeah I understand your situation, but if it were me I would have made that trip so I didn't have to permanently modify the part and risk damaging it. And considering your motor isn't even set up to run just yet, it would make sense to ME to wait and get the right fastners.

anywho, just my , not trying to crap on your thread or anything.

And where does "Professional Products" manufacture their parts?

I'm just curious, because there are an awful lot of rip-off/copies of US designed and manufactured performance parts being done in foreign countries, and there are name-brand US performance parts manufacturers farming out their product manufacturing to third-world countries.

Honestly, I couldn't tell you where they're made. I wasn't endorsing them or anything, just trying to help things along, figured a company would be better than nothing at all.

Most of the "Professional Products" stuff is made in China.

I dont know 100% who makes the Summit TB but I was under the impression that it was basically the BBK Edelbrock unit under the Summit brand name... I have no proof of this just what I heard, I could be wrong, but I could be right too.

I saw some pics of the Summit TB next to a BBK unit and they were very simillar. I am told the PP unit is a Chinese copy of the BBK though.

Just because it came from China doesnt make it junk...
