It just really depends on your budget, time, etc.
As far as daily driver, that would depend on what you want, lots of power... that equals less MPG, if you have a heavy foot. Are you looking for a modest increase in power without reving past 6000 rpm? Try the comp , they have a great line of cams..... Good luck
Re: Stupid Question....about cams...
Your stock lifters will be fine after a good inspection. A timing set is automatic to replace. Springs, keepers, and retainers(.050 up) are automatic with a new cam.Roller rockers are a nice thing to have in a 1.6 ratio.
I would suggest something in the 218/224@50 on a 110/112LSA and a 106/108ICL with something like a .500/.530 lift.
Idles just lopey enough to tell ya got a cam and pulls like crazy for a small cam.Crower makes one and some on the board make them also (Bauer Racing) and others.

I'm sorry, but I really must disagree. Not so much in THEORY, more in PRACTICE. Here's my thinking...
I realize that in theory the stock lifter SHOULD be OK, because unlike the older style hydraulic "flat" lifters, the Roller types don't rotate.
However, I strongly believe that some things should be replaced as a SYSTEM.
In this case, it means Cam, Lifters, Springs/Locks & Valve Stem Seals.
Even though the HR lifters don't rotate, they also don't ride on a captured oil bearing. Whenever you have two metal surfaces that come into conact, they wear together and to change one of them means that you begin a new wear pattern, which the parts may not appreciate.
There are of course situations where it wont matter, because parts will be changed again long before issues crop up.
YOU for instance. A "Top Level" guy who races a lot and will change cams as casually as I might change plugs doesn't have to worry about longer term issues.
However, in that case of someone who wants to research something, do it ONCE and then button everything back up for the long haul...
Well, someone like that might be better served by the "systems" approach.
All this is just opinion of course, and I DO have a tendency to be overcautious on things like this. I just felt it was worthwhile to point it out.
Re: Stupid Question....about cams...
NO theory to it.
I have too many builds and cam changes out there running with stock lifters to say "go spend another 200.00" or so on lifters.
There is nothing wrong with the factory lifters until ya get into spring pressures above 400lbs on the nose. At this point no hyd lifter seems to do good.

Re: Stupid Question....about cams...
Do a search. There are like a million and 1 "What cam should I get?" threads. There are also answers to your question of "What should I replace?". The search function can be a huge help tool for someone just starting out.
