Stupid a/c question
OK, this may be a stupid question but I've never had to change the a/c compressor in this car before. I got the old compressor out with little problem but the shop manual states that I need to add 8 oz of synthetic oil to the replacement compressor before installing it. I looked on the back of the old compressor and all I see are the ports (suction and pressure I assume) and another port directly in the middle that has a threaded plug in it. I took the plug out, thinking this was it, turned the compressor upside down expecting oil to come out of it, but nothing came out. Now, where in the hell do I add this oil?
It doesn't matter which hole you put in. Hold the compressor with the holes straight up and the pulley side down. Pour in the fluid, then start turning the pulley with your hands 5-6 full turns to circulate the fluid. Then reinstall the compressor.
