Stud girdle won't clear PCV baffle...

Anybody make a low-profile PCV baffle for valve covers. I am running pro-form standard SBC (non-centerbolt) valve covers on my 383 LT4 engine and am getting almost completely together, but my stud girdle comes up to far and it hits the PCV baffle. Any suggestions??? Anybody run into this before???

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Won't that put oil up into the PCV tube going to the throttle body???

I went this route:

Different...maybe you can do the same with your covers?

Hmm...different. I actually notched out the valve cover myself for the alternator and had it welded. That turned out OK. The last thing I really have to do is make this PCV baffle clear. I will take some pictures as soon as I get the valve cover painted the way it should (looks pretty ghetto right now). Where does your fresh air come in to the PCV system at or are you not running a PCV???

Thanks!!

I'm running a Deutsch BF412 valve cover oil seperator. It mounts in the air feed fitting in the passenger side valve cover. It might allow you to nuke the baffle. It's only around $4 - 6 at any auto parts store.

Really...I haven't heard of that being done before...and I take it there are no problems with oil getting into the intake on your engine and no problems with oil leakage??? How often does the filter need to be changed??

Just checking...I don't want to be having to pulling anything apart again due to this being a total PITA to work on as you all know.

Thanks a bunch for the suggestion!!!

It's not a filter, it's an oil separator, basically it provides a tortuous path for the oil vapor to keep the oil it in the valve cover.

The Duetsch is not a total solution. I have it and some oil stll finds its way the TB. I took the Duetsch apart, and there is a piece in there that is sorta like a filter, along with a baffling system. This "filter material" was drenched in oil.

My Deutsch BF412 did not come with any filter material.

The stock oil baffle inside the valve cover is not a total solution either, I offered up the Deutsch part as a solution to allow him to remove the valve cover gasket.

So would it be OK to just build a flat piece that goes where the baffle used to so that I have something there to deflect the oil, and then use the inline oil separator??? That would seem logical to me, but just thought I would check to make sure that would work.
