Stroker questions
okay gotta a few questions, will a cc305 cam have clearance issues with
Eagle Specialty Products Lightweight I-Beam "SIR" Rods, 5140 Steel, SBC 6.000" length when running a 3.75" stroker crankshaft?
also ive read somewhere that you cant use the windage tray that secures with the main bearing bolts with a 3.75" stroke. so should i just pitch it and buy the cheaper ARP stud kit without the windage tray bolts?
will 6" rods with a 3.75" stroke in a block not bored create 383 cubes?
what size specs do i need to look for when buying rings to fit the stock pistons, when i havent bored the cylinders? the cylinders where about 4.004-4.005 after honing.
will i have issues with too high of compression with the stock pistons?
last question- im thinking i want a one piece seal when buying a crankshaft right?

Ya can use the tray by getting the studs for a 400CID. Better option would be a good pan and pickup.
No it will be 377 rods don't have anything to do with it
Get a stock replacement ring of the BEST quality not 22.95 set.
Compression depends on the cam ya get,but with a 305 I would say your DCR would be to high for pump gas.
Yep a one piece seal.

Try to stay away from small base circle cams if you can. Verify whether a small base cam is actualy needed by moking the motor and say a stock cam. Put about 1/8" of modeling clay on the rods and rotate the crank slowly. If there is 0.04" of clay depth left then you should be fine.
I've done this on my motor with 5.85" H-beam rods and it rotates fine with a stock cam. A larger lift cam has a smaller base circle anyway, and a small base circle cam is a compremize.

I doubt that cam will clear those rods without significant
grinding on the rodbolts.
Lunati promod rods clear strokers very well!
Search for pics of the 2 and look at the difference.
I had a custom fabbed Milodon tray fitted to my studs.

so a cc305 is not a small base circle is that right? has anyone heard of being able to run this without having to grind the rod bolts so much it weakends them.
would it be really bad not to run that windage tray?
im still wondering about compression issues with stock pistons, ill run 91 octane but i definately dont want knocking.

A 305 is not small base circle and a small circle is fine as long as the core is billet.
If ya want to blow it up leave the windage tray out.
Figure up your compression and DCR and see

I don't know why you are worried about the compression ratio with your stock pistons. You can't use stock pistons with a stroker crank, unless you get some sort of custom (short) rod length. Put the stock pistons on a 6" rod with a 3.75" stroke and the piston ends up almost 1/2" above the deck at TDC. Even with a 5.7" rod and a 3.75" stroke, the pistons would be above the deck at TDC.

yeah ive figured that out now thanks to some peoples help. my main concern now is if my cc305 will not be able to work with Eagles Sir I beam 6" rods and what my compression would be with flat top pistons for a 383.

Give me ALL your engine spects-Deck height,rod length,IVC,ICL,LSA,Gasket thickness,ect. and I will figure it for ya later tonight. I cant guess what ya gonna run,I need all the spects to be correct on the DCR.

deck height is stock havent machined that,
heads have been surfaced twice, neither time took off very much just cleaned them up. (whats cc on these as they havent had any bowl work but if they have to before putting together i guess its gotta be done)
rod length most likely 5.7"
cam-CC305 220 / 230, .544 / .544 114 LSA running this with 1.6rr
Pistons have a -7cc chamber
gasket thickness- im going to be replacing it with a stock gasket set so i think those are fel pro gaskets and im not sure on thickness sorry.
is that gettin close to enough info?

compression and clearance with my rods and cam are the biggest issues right now, i still havent figured out how much the rods have to be tampered with to use a cc305 or if it could be used at all?

Need the ICL the + or - number. It's ground on a 114 but the ICL is how much it is advanced.Also I need the advertised duration numbers not at 50 and the real IVC not at 50.
The 1074 Fel Pro are .039 and the GM stock is .049 so which one.
If the heads have been done twice,no telling. .008=1CC. Do ya have the IVclosing number?
