stroker kits

ive been reading a few things latly (scary thought isn't it) anyways i see lingenfelter uses a 427 small block in everything thery make. so i figure its a stroker kit. so then i start to think maybee they have one for us too?!? so what gives? is thier a 427 stroker kit for us lt1 guys? if not what is the biggest stoker for us and is it worth the money?

No we dont have anything that large. A 383 is the best bang for your buck stroker, a 396 is the next step up and requires a more expensive crank and often a new oil pan.

I would start with heads and cam first if you dont have that already.

There are a lot of vendors and a ton of options as far as cranks, rods, pistons, bearings, etc etc. My advice would be to do a good search in LT1tech or contact a board sponser or knowledgable board member.

Board member SStrokerAce built my stroker which I made the numbers with in my sig.

There are a lot. I would call Combination Motorsports for one. What I actually ended up doing was going to a well known engine builder and have him order the parts. For me it wasn't much more because of what I would pay for shipping though. I lucked out because I originally wanted regular cast parts and he ended up ordering me forged parts so he gave them to me at his cost.

The 383 is the best bang for the buck, the 396 and 409 will give marginal gains over the 383 .You will make plenty of power with a 383, actualy the sky (or your pocketbook ) is the limit. Whichever stroker you go with plan on spending alot on heads, proven cam grinds are already there so choose your compression and go with the cam that suits your needs, but heads are where your power is made.
I went with the eagle kit that is sold about everywhere, the kit contained cast steel crank (3.75 stoke) 5.7 inch eagle I beam rods , KB 18cc dish pistons, rings, and bearings. The kit cost me 950 $ plus shipping. I then had it internally balanced and deburred , pistons installed on rods and block machined for right around 500$( I assembled the motor myself), with a good set of ported LT4 heads and intake youre looking at another 2500 $ or so to have it complete and done right. So for under 5 grand you can have a motor that puts out around 400 rwhp and a BUTT LOAD of torque , and spins right at 6 grand. You could spend alot more too.

where are they and what are they?

I allready make 381rwhp and 349rwtq with good heads, intake and mild lt4 hotcam, approx how much diff. would i see from the 383 a slight bump of compression on the pistons?
diff. with one of the proven cams?

If you only went to a 383 with no other changes your power would increase by about 10 percent. If you optimised cam timing (added a cam with about 5 percent more duration and lift and had a slightly sighter lobe centerline , different from lobe seperation) and increased head flow and compression, the sky is the limit. There are guys here on the board making well over 400 RWHP with 11.1 compression, good flowing heads and say the GM 847, CC XE 230/236, CC306 etc cams, properly tuned. My tiny cammed 10.3 to 1 compression 383 with box stock AFR heads is making the HP youre making but with a butload more torque and still getting 18mpg, and very docile around town (although traction below 50 mph on street tires is hard). Look at a few of the board memebers with 383s and look at their torque curves.
Before the stroker I had a set-up simular to yours except with the cc305 cam. It ran low 12s easily and had its own temperment driving around town. It made good power and trapped in the 1/4 at 113. After putting in the 383 with the same exh , intake , but only a 224/230 XE cam and the same heads, After some tuning and stuff was done I easily surpased the 1/4 mile performance of the 350 (after 3 trys...lol) it also traps a few mph higher (115 with a DA of 2200). Driving around town it is very docile except that it freaking moves from any RPM or speed better than the 350. the torque it produces is phenominal!!! I wonder why I ever built 350s.
I plan on moving up in cam size to the 230/236 or the GM 847 , as the car needs alot more cam than it has in it.
