Hey ppl, i know this will be a hard one to figure out without opening things up, but here goes, today i was driving my 97 ss clone with 100,000 miles on it just hit today by the way and i heard a bad bad noise but was not constant, it sounds like someone tossed a bolt in my oil pan or either my trans pan, or quite possibly the torque convert. cover, it seems to only do it at certain times as if what ever it is is being tossed around inside, but it does sound like a bolt, any of you ever had this happen or something similar? The only mods i have is the expensive hypertech over rated fan switch with the setting on 1000 rpm rev limit added and the standard hypertech upgrade and shift firmness, everything seems to shift ok and oil preasure is perfect , no metal in the engine oil. HEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPP, SHE'S MY BABY! this car is never mistreated and is rarely blown out and if it is its only for about 3000 ft or less.Please reply directly to my email @ snakekiller97@yahoo.com

 

I've seen the bolts that hold the rear main seal adapter come out. When this happens they hang around in the torque converter dust shield. It's pretty easy to pull the shield off to check.
