Strange Problem W/ 93 Z28
I've got a weird situation here. Recently, my buddy needed to borrow a part off from my car to hold him over until the part he ordered came in. Since my car is a garage queen that doesn't get driven, I thought why not. The part that he needed was the wire that runs from the wiring harness down to the back of the optispark. Well, after I take mine off, it turns out he doesn't need the part. I go to put it back on, and now the car won't start for the life of me. I've taken it off a couple of times and reinstalled and she still won't start. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be. It's a kinda tight squeeze getting this thing back on and I've had to use some duckbill pliers to get it to connect back into the optispark. My only guess is that maybe when I was maneuvering the connector around I may have put a little too much pressure on the connector to the optispark and damaged it. Does anyone else have any input. I'd appreciate it.

If the harness were the problem you would most likely get a DTC. Check the coil for spark. If you have spark, try squirting fuel in the intake while someone cranks it over. Maybe the queen has indigestion, how long has the fuel sat in there?

The car has sat for about 4 months or so without being started. I'm going to have one of my buddies come over and turn the car over while I check to see if the car has spark. If not, I am planning on shooting some starting fluid up in there. I am pretty sure that it is spark related though. I can hear the pump kick on when I turn the key over. I guess the moral of this story is tell your buddy to get a taxi next time
Re: Strange Problem W/ 93 Z28
Did you check the connectors (both ends) to make sure you didn't bend a pin, or that it was not excessively corroded, requiring you to force it together with pliers?
Since you have a 93, you can flash the DTC codes on the SES light, to see if you are getting DTC 16, which indicates loss of low resolution pulse from the Opti, and shuts down the fuel system.

When I took the wire back off to see if it was damaged, there was a small deformation on one of the pins. To me, it didn't appear that it would be severe enough to cause failure. Do you think that this could be the problem?

Thanks....i'll give it a shot. I'm sure I could find one used somewhere if that doesn't work. The car just sits in the garages so I'm not really in too big of a hurry to get it. My buddy had to order the same part from the dealer and I believe it ran him about 125 bucks. Ouch!!
