i cant seem to think of how or why this is leaking. The only time it will leak is if i shut off the car before it reaches operating temp, like if i drive it around for a bit and it reaches operating temp, shut it off, there isnt a leak. but if i just start it up for a little bit and shut it off it will leak . I dont know exactly where it could be leaking from either because it was dripping from the front of the water pump, not the sides. so i dont see how it could be a mating surface problem..... has anybody seen something like this before or have an idea of what could be going on here? thanks

 

Sounds like you are describing the "weep hole" in the front of the waterpump. They generally leak from here when they are starting to go bad. Mine started doing this, and before long a steady stream was coming out of this hole no matter what.
