Re: Stock Torque Converter?

I heard it was a 1600 stall stock. I had a 3200 in the car and it moved just fine....the only reason i changed it is because my car won't take anything above a 2800. I really couldn't tell any difference between stock and the vigilante one. You don't even notice it.....but i know what your saying. I used to think when i first got my car four years ago when i put the convertor in it, it wouldn't move until 3200 but like i said i couldn't tell the difference.

Re: Stock Torque Converter?

I'm about 90% certain the stock converter is 1800rpms. It would never brake stall to that before it started turning the tires, it would probably flash close to it just going WOT though. My 3000rpm vig. will move off idle as soon as I let off the brake. FYI it doesn't have to be at 3000rpms to move regardless. I can only brake stall it up to about 2200-2500(max) before it starts to turn the tires. I never reach 3000rpms unless I get a flash while jumping all over the throttle, but that negates the whole theory of it not moving until I get to 3k. I just to from brake to WOT. The only time I have to give it throttle to move is if I pull front ways into my driveway. It has a down hill slop so when I back out I have to give it somewhat considerable gas to get it to back up the hill. By considerable I mean more than when it was stock, still not a ton though. Your friend is crazy. Even a high stall like 4k or more would still move before you got the 4k on the tach. I dunno about off idle with something that big, but it'd still move with part throttle.
