Stock = nothing touched.
Now how many "stock" cars are floating around?

although i do believe my numbers coulda been higher, my car was dynoed all wrong
but it wouldnt have been a really big increase
Re: Stock RWHP numbers??
How in the world can LT1's vary as much as 30 HP or torque in performance.
I think a lot of it has to do with dynos, I would imagine that the engines are closer than what you guys are stating.
I can see a few HP different from engine to engine but not these big numbers.
Even if you factor in the GM spec of 325 torque and 275 HP at the flywheel and calculate 17% parasitic loss you should be around 269 torque and 228 HP.
I find it very hard to believe that some LT1's can produce over 300 torque and 270 HP at the wheels being absolutely bone stock.
Somthing is inflating these numbers, maybe its just me.

I guess i got lucky finding my 97 z28..BONE STOCK...only 12k miles..
but planning on just adding a CAI and catback exhaust to it, nothing else..

Re: Stock RWHP numbers??
I bought mine 2 years ago (a 94), and it was BONE stock... down to the paper filter. Nothing aftermarket was on this car at all. Things have changed somewhat after I got a hold of it

Re: Stock RWHP numbers??
I have a basically bone stock '97 LT1, (shifter and tires don't count, right?). It has ~26,500 miles on it, I have yet to get it dyno'd but I would like to...Hopefully during this holiday season a cai and catback will come my way
Re: Stock RWHP numbers??
I suppose you could argue that the SS isn't stock. It has a cold air intake and CAT back. But before I did anything else to it, it got 250hp and 290lb' on a dynojet. It's a 6 speed.
Re: Stock RWHP numbers??
i have mine in a third gen but i hope to get close to those #'s, after i get the t56 in, that is close to 300hp. smog delete, 1.6 r/r custom air intake, headers, 3" exhaust to flowmaster, 373's eaton posi ,lt4 knock chip, custom tune. once i get the tranny in i plan on going to the dyno. i ran a 14.5 97mph with crapy 700r4 not working right, hope to get to the 13's with the tranny

Age of engine, ambient conditions, different dynos (some in questionable tune) and "selective memory" will all contribute to an array of results. Take it all with a grain of salt.
Don't get too concerned over numbers posted on the internet.
Re: Stock RWHP numbers??
wrd1972 ~ You keep doubting everyones #'s. They have nothing to gain lying about it on here. The reason their numbers are high compared to what the GM ratings are is because GM underrates the horsepower on their F-Bodies. Look at LS1 cars. Their RATED at 305HP, and commonly dyno 300 REAR WHEEL horsepower. That would put them at around 340ish at the crank through an M6.
Also, an M6 produces some of the lowest parasitic loss out of any manual tranmissions for a v8 car ever produced. Most people are commonly seeing about a 13 to 14% loss. Thats not alot.
Average RWHP for these cars is :
M6 - 250-260ish
A4 - 240-250ish
If your buying an LT1 car, more than likely it will have higher miles. Before buying a single mod, I would get plugs, over the valve cover plug wires from Elite Sparkplug, a new fuel filter, change the oil, run it for a couple weeks getting it hot, then change the oil again to get an idea of the condition of the motor/see how dirty it is. I would run a quality synthetic oil. And then get a cold air intake for it. Buy a quality one though, none of the ebay cheapies.

Re: Stock RWHP numbers??
One of you mentioned a Dynojet. One of you provided a link to a Dynojet graph. None of the rest of you specified. Which type of dyno you tested on makes a pretty noticeable difference in your numbers. Mustang and Dynapack dynos typically read lower than Dynojets.
