Stock RWHP numbers??

Just got my first LT1 car and was wondering what you guys pulled with a bone stock setup. Mine came up to be 240Hp and 290Tq bone stock. Is this good or bad for a 6spd LT1 car with 116k miles? I feel like im starting all over again. I know the 5.0 mustangs and the LS1's like the back of my hand but the LT1's I have no clue as to what mods they like at the moment.

Re: Stock RWHP numbers??

IIRC, GM published numbers where 275/325 for single cat cars.

Derate about 15% and you land at about 235/275. So with 116K on the clock, it's pretty wild that your bang on GM's ratings from the factory.

To answer your question, you're in the middle to slightly above normal of the dyno numbers I've seen most posted for a bone stock M6 LT1. So at least you know the engine's been taken care of.

what mods do lt1s like eh , well like ls1s and some mustangs (ie cobras 03-04) lt1s love exhaust work , headers and exahaust would be my first mods,

then id move on to a good size cam and some head work

unless u have enough money to just do some all out crazy stuff

u also have the choices or doung 355,383,396 (ls1 choices are unlimited but u are alos limited to how much green u want to spend)

personally id do some forced induction

but if u dont have teh money id do some exhaust work and juice it up haha

oh btw the numbers arent bad for teh amount of miles of teh car,
i put down 261hp 285 tq A4 i guess my numbers were ok , cant wait to c what i gained with headers

Re: Stock RWHP numbers??

From what I've seen, stock rear wheel #s range from about 240-260 hp and 290-300 tq.

Re: Stock RWHP numbers??

You guys are seeing around 290 torque at the wheels bone stock. Not doubting you guys but that sounds high. You guys must have the top end LT1's.

Re: Stock RWHP numbers??

With just a flowmaster muffler only mine was 264 hp 302 tq and most people say that flowmaster sucks so I consider that stock

Re: Stock RWHP numbers??

With JUNK headers, homemade CAI and borla exhaust, I was putting down 287.1rwhp and 329.7rwtq. The headers were bad enough to be considered almost manifolds considering I picked up another 5rwhp from nothing more than a set of Edelbrock TES headers. This was all through a STOCK cat, and borla catback with zero tuning and 60k on the clock through an M6 trans.

From what Ive seen at local dyno days and such, your numbers seem a little low for what Im used to (Maybe due to the lower altitude here) Most exhaust only cars out here are putting up 260-270rwhp.

You can see a pic of my dyno sheet at http://www.socalmuscle.com/pics/dynorun2003.jpg

Oh, just to give you a heads up, I am now running a Borla XR-1 muffler, Hooker Long tube headers, homemade Cold Air, tuning and a 225/234 cam and I am making around 330rwhp and 340rwtq. All on a stock motor that is being loaned to me while I finish my new 355.

Good Luck!!!

Re: Stock RWHP numbers??

I've got a 3" Flowmaster catback and I put down 260/306 but run a 14.4 @ 97. From what I've seen I've got decent numbers for being stock, but my Et's could be better. I think its cause I don't have traction. My 60' is 2.15x.

Re: Stock RWHP numbers??

Ill just be doing the basics for now. You know, LT headers, cat back. Already put the CAI on it. Thinking about keeping the 3.42's in it. Will I gain much with the 3.73's? Didnt gain much with the other cars ive had. Im just looking to get 300 RWHP with stock internals. Then do a mild cam swap and roller rocker arms. Of course change the valve springs at the same time. Trying to keep the stock PCM tune in it.

My first dyno w/ my car I had a Flowmaster cat-back and Lingenfelter CAI. The car put down 283/321 at the wheels.

Here's my recipe for 300 rwhp:

- CSI electric water pump
- 1.6 RR's
- LT4 valve springs
- Flowmaster
- Borla Y-pipe
- off road pipe
- CAI of your choice
- March pullies

I put down 294 before the water pump. All my dyno runs were with the stock wheels. My last run WITH the water pump I ran with my Torque Thrust 2's, which I'm assuming I lost a few hp running those (56 lbs each compared to 48 lbs each). Either way, after the water pump install I was at 297 at the wheels. I bet if I ran the stock wheels I would have been right at or VERY close to 300 rwhp.

Re: Stock RWHP numbers??

This guy asks for what STOCK LT1's put down...it seems some of you just don't get it and just want to toot your own horn.

Stock = nothing touched.

Now how many "stock" cars are floating around?
