Im rebuilding my LT1 with forged flat top .30 over pistons and Iv been told by a few people i should be fine with my stock connecting rods.. so will i be ok with stock rods? Im not doing anything crazy really with it. I may sray a 100 shot now and again eventually.

100 shot on a stock type build or modded then 100 shot? aftermarket rods are so cheap nowadays you might as well do them. get a 6"rod and then you can run a substantially lighter piston in a 350 application. rods are only like 300 bucks and you get arp bolts with them. scat pro comp i beams will take all the power you can throw at them also. if you werent using nitrous id say go ahead with the stock with bolts, but id take the extra insurance for a few hundred especially if you are doing pistons. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...6&autoview=sku

Stock rods are fine for a lot of the setups people run and you will be fine spraying 100 shot on them too. Having forged pistons you should be ok running more nitrous than that as long as your tune is good.

BBK shorts Headers, K&N air intake, Spec3 clutch, exhaust. And once out of the machine shop the block will be a 355..nothing to much..its my daily driver.

I've seen two documented instances of stock connecting rod failure. Both occurred at about the 600 flywheel HP level. The Para-noid website has one of the cases illustrated.

Piston weight and RPM are the deciding factors, you gave us neither.

It will be much easier to use the money for the nitrous kit to get rods now and install the nitrous later than it will be to get the nitrous now and change your rods out later.

Alot of people who have reused the stock rods with your type of setup have at least upgraded to ARP rod bolts.

Sound advice. At least use some ARPs.
