Re: stock pushrods??

on a note...the stockers are hardened one piece so you can use them with guidepletes....is it recommended you change them if you want guideplates? yes...get new ones.

motors pre-94 had guideplates so if you need to run plates you can either machine your heads or get 92/3 lt1 heads and use the stockers. if you do the vette heads keep the rockers...they're crane gold race 1.6

I have to respectfully disagree here.

Better be damn sure that they are hardened if you want to reuse your stockers. I had many people swear up and down that my 95 rods were hardened. They did not pass the file test and would have been disastrous if I used them with guide plates. Just draw a file edge across them and if the file tries to cut they are not hardened. I file will not leave the slightest blemish on a true hardened push rod.

No LT1 heads ever came with guide plates from GM, they all had stamped self aligning rockers. You can bolt on GM performance LT1 guideplates with no modifications.

Do you have the GM part number for these GM Performance Guide plates? I downloaded the GM Performance parts .pdf file but I didn't see anything specific to the LT1/LT4 utilization. It must be a multiple use type part. I'm putting in a solid roller in my new 383 (Cam Motions solid roller .604 lift using Comp Cams 7/16" ProMag roller rockers) and I need to use the guide plates. I'm looking for a bolt on guide plate versus some of the other guide plate threads where guys are welding Isky's together to get the proper spacing/orientation.
Thanks!
Dave

Re: stock pushrods??

Many thanks. I just ordered them from Dal. Man... I went to GM parts direct and specified:
LH/RH motor mounts
Cam to oil pump drive gear
Bolt and washer for above drive gear($0.98 and $0.38 respectively)
8 guide plates
Total for parts alone: $195.72
Each part has an associated Shipping/Handling, even though they are probably going to be in the same box, I would think.
Shipping and Handling charge total: $45.23 (!)

I ordered from Dal because he only charges the UPS charge. Dal will put all this in a single box.
