Stock PCM RPM limit

Is it true that the stock PCM cannot support over 7200rpm?

Re: Stock PCM RPM limit

The obd1 computers actually shut down at 7k. Once you hit 7k, the ECM shuts down, your motor stops running completely. You have to key off, and restart the car.

OBD2 stuff doesnt shut down at 7k, but there are no tables beyond 7k rpms. Therefore the car runs like crap past that. I have heard that the ecm uses the 7k cells for every rpm past 7k, (ie same fuel, timing etc) but i have no evidence to support that either way.

Re: Stock PCM RPM limit

We are running OBD2 and have spun the motor to 7300RPM, but our MPH on the big end seemed low. Does the GEN6 sound like the way to go?

your wrong the computer and car does not shut off.

Limit is 7200ISH then the PCM thinks it is spinning around 3650.

Well, I guess bringing back a 3 year old thread makes that two year old thread you brought back look slightly less stupid...
