are stock lifters and 95 prods ok for high hp app?

I'm rebuilding the motor right now, and basically, i just ran out of money lol...

The lifters I have are stock OE lifters with bout 50K miles on'em and i have 95 hardened pushrods as well that i'll be taking out of motor... i'll prolly be making over 700hp eventually so i was just curious if the stock lifters are fine, or its essenstial i get some comp OE replacements, and some aftermarket hardened pushrods...

i have ex components lifters, and my cam lift is .560...

oh, btw its a turbo motor...

For a high HP application I wouldn't skimp on the lifters; I'd suggest you go with Comp R's. Expect a lot of headaches in the future if you skimp on the internals of a 700 HP motor!

I myself had a lifter faul at 70k. And I always change the oil on time, and dont run nothing else but 10w30. I had a friend have the same thing happen to his around 80k.

i dont really see how hp would have any affect on lifters. i could be wrong but i think that rpm, spring pressures, and cam lift would be the determining factors. however, i do think that a set of comp r lifters would be a very good investment, especially considering that you can find a set for ~150 bucks!

I'm asking this because my friend's comp Rs failed after like couple thousand miles, and it wasnt a pretty sight....

and i do know the LT1 lifters are very good.....

which is why i'm asking... if they were **** parts, i woulda said forget it....

what bout rods? are the 95 hard ones ok?

the 95's are hardened and i reused mine. As for lifters if you plan for 700 hp you are probably gonna rev high and have a big cam with tough springs. I would upgrade lifters. If not they will hold you back in the power department.

I had always heard 93-94's were hardened and some 95's were. So when i pulled mine out i checked them and they were hardened.

If you are going to run guideplates, you need hardened PR's. If not, they are no advantage at all. If I was short on money I'd be more inclined to put it into PR's vs. lifters. There's nothing wrong with the stock lifters unless you try to run them at high rpm. I assume that a turbo motor will not be revving very high? The stock PR's are adqaute for the wimpy stock springs. They may not be the right length for your new setup and a stiffer pushrod would be a good idea with the stiffer valve springs that (I assume) you are going to use.
