stock lifters?

I'm changing cams and reusing the stock lifters, Do they have to go back in to the same spot?

I would say, Yes..... Each one wears different.... Its best to keep them in the same spot.. Unless you can afford new ones....

Re: stock lifters?

since you are installing a new cam I would say it doesn't matter. If you haven't taken them out yet I would go ahead and number them but if they are already out i wouldn't worry about it

Re: stock lifters?

are stock lifters still good for an aftermarket cam, assuming it's not really wild? I was told when I had my chevelle that they needed to be changed because each lifter molds to the cam differently and that reusing the old ones would cause problems.

Re: stock lifters?

Most people use stock lifters for aftermarket cams...even big cams like the gm847. You realize an lt-1 has hydraulic roller lifters right? I'm thinking your chevelle don't unless it is aftermarket. The roller lifters really don't wear out. The biggest problem is under high lift pressures, it could collapse.

Re: stock lifters?

ok, maybe the 402 didn't have rollers. I forgot that they're different from regular hydraulic lifters. good luck with the cam swap!
