i know this is a simple question, but try searching for fuel pump and see how many comments you find on stock fuel pumps. thanks for the help guys.

Re: stock fuel pump

Your probably gonna have to shell out the extra cash to get one. The Ractronix kit with the Walbro 255LPH pump is $160 for theirs. Kinda stupid to get a weak stock replacement when you can get a better performance pump for cheaper. I also checked my local Autozone to compare prices. A stock replacement was $180. Also if your looking to buy one on this website this is the wrong thread. There is a for sale section, and a want to buy section. Check out both of those, you might find a fairly used unit for a good price. Most people I've seen sell them for around $100 bucks though, so for a little more you could just get a brand new one. Good luck.

Re: stock fuel pump

thanks for the reply. wasnt trying to post a want ad, it just kinda ended up like that. i found a place called new era performance parts that has a good price on the GSS340 pump. however their kit doesnt look like its as complete as the ractronix one. i dont need the wiring harness, just the pump. would this be the pump im looking for? ive got a pretty much stock lt1, headers, and an adjust fuel press reg. i searched around but everyone looking for a new pump has more mods than i do. would this work well with my set-up? thanks.

Re: stock fuel pump

They sell 2 different kits for the lt1. One includes the pump and everything that is needed to convert it over to the stock wiring harness. The other one comes with the pump and a completely different wiring harness, and some other stuff. I got the first one, since I am just a bolt on car. Still cheaper and better than the stocker, even if you have to throw away a few wires.

Re: stock fuel pump

I don't have many mods myself but I needed a new pump to replace my wasted one. There's no reason why you can't upgrade like I did. Then you'll always know you will have plenty of fuel for any future mods. Yeah I didn't elaborate much on the Racetronix kits. Like someone else said, there are two. One is just the assembly(the one I spoke of). To be exact it includes the pump, a small wire harness, a new filter sock, a couple small plactic clips, super glue, electrical ooze(can't remember the name, I didn't even use it) and a paper clip. The harness replaces the old stuff that is down inside the tank. Runs to the pump and to the float for the fuel gauge sending unit. Not necessarily needed to replace, but it certainly doesn't hurt, and some people actually may need to replace theirs. Mine was fine, but I swapped anyway. You'll see what the paper kit is for, along with the small clips. The super glue is to glue the bucket back together, and the electrical stuff is just to prevent corrosion on electrical connections. Also the sock goes on the bottom of the bucket, after you see your old rusty brown colored one vs the brand new white one you'll see why you need a new one.
The other kit is the PNP kit(or Plug and Play). It includes everything I mentioned previously and also a complete wiring harness to replace all the old original stuff OUTSIDE the tank. I believe the main reason for this is those wires are subject to the elements and over time get old and shabby. Some people experience poor connections because of this, resulting in low voltage to the pump, resulting in the pump to work harder on less juice to keep the pressure at optimum, which usually ends in it's premature demise. Whew... A very very good idea in my opinion, but I didn't have the extra cash(from $160 to $240 for the PNP) at the time to pay for it. You can always get the PNP harness at a later date for around $90 I think. It may include other stuff, but I'm not certain of that.

Sorry so long, I'm in the typing mood today.
