Re: Stock crank

Stock crank may technically be cast but it is incomparably better than aftermarket cast. I would put it against the chinese forged cranks like Eagle and Scat. Been playing with this car for a decade and I am as of yet unaware of anyone overpowering the stock crank.

Stock parts can take a couple hundred hp more than stock before you have to worry.

Re: Stock crank

That is blind bashing for the most part. Half of them claiming 350hp was risky when the LT4 was fractured cap PM and 330 factory and a LOT of us run over 450hp on stock shortblock.

I am not saying the PM stock rods are great, but they are better than folks without experience assume they are.

My first junkyard shortblock spun a bearing, the bearing went away entirely and the rod bent but never broke.

Re: Stock crank

I hear what youre saying but whne a 4340 rod is 200$ a set remanning your PM rods is less attractive.

Re: Stock crank

I do not disagree other than to say I would go to a $300 capscrew rod, BUT my point was more that folks jump on the rebuild bandwagon WAY too quickly when stock parts can serve them better than the cheapest aftermarket stuff they tend to buy.

I completely agree there, unless there is severe blowby or a bearing has spun I usually leave well enough alone...lol
